[edit] Early life
Penn was born in Los Angeles County, California,[1] the son of Leo Penn, an actor and director, and Eileen Ryan (née Annucci), an actress. He has one living brother, musician Michael Penn. Another brother, actor Chris Penn, died in 2006. His paternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Lithuania and Russia,[2][3][4] while his mother is a Catholic of Italian and Irish descent.[4] According to Penn's mother, Leo Penn may have had distant Spanish ancestry, as his family's surname was originally "Piñón".[4] Penn was raised in a secular home[2] and is an agnostic.[5] He attended Santa Monica High School.[6]
[edit] Acting career
Penn appeared in a 1974 episode of the Little House on the Prairie television series as a then blond-haired extra when his father, Leo, directed some of the episodes.
Penn launched his film career with the 1981 film Taps, where he played a key role as a military high school cadet opposite protagonist Timothy Hutton. Tom Cruise also made one of his first film appearances as another cadet in the action-drama. A year later, he appeared in the hit comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High (in the role of surfer-stoner Jeff Spicoli). In 1983, Penn turned in one of his best early performances as Mick O'Brien, a troubled youth in the drama Bad Boys. It earned Penn favorable reviews and jump started his career as a serious actor.
In 1985, Penn gave a memorable performance in the role of Andrew Daulton Lee in The Falcon and the Snowman, which closely followed an actual criminal case. Lee was a former drug dealer by trade, convicted of espionage for the Soviet Union and was originally sentenced to life in prison. Lee was paroled in 1998. In an interview for The Guardian in April, 2005, it was stated that Penn later hired Lee as his personal assistant, partly because he wanted to reward Lee for allowing him to play Lee in the film, and also because he was a firm believer in rehabilitation and thought Andrew Lee should be successfully reintegrated into society since he was a free man again.[7]
In 1986 he starred in the drama At Close Range, opposite Christopher Walken. The film featured his then wife Madonna's single "Live to Tell". The music video for the song, which featured clips from the film, played heavily on MTV and helped promote the film.
At the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.
Penn has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor five times and won the award twice. The academy first recognized his work playing a racist murderer on death row in Tim Robbins' 1995 drama Dead Man Walking. Penn was noted in 1999 for his comedic performance as an egotistical jazz guitarist in Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown. He received his third nomination in 2001 after portraying a mentally-handicapped father in I am Sam. In 2003, Penn finally won for his role in Clint Eastwood's Boston crime-drama Mystic River. In 2004, he played a disturbed man bent on killing the president in The Assassination of Richard Nixon. He received his fifth nomination and second win for his role as the charismatic and vibrant gay politician Harvey Milk in the 2008 film Milk. He was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2004.[8]
In 2006 he portrayed populist governor Willie Stark (based on Huey Long) in an adaptation of the classic American novel All the King's Men, though the film was a critical and commercial failure. In November 2008, Penn earned rave reviews for his portrayal of real-life gay rights icon and politician Harvey Milk in the biopic Milk and was nominated for best actor for the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards.[9]
[edit] Director
In 1991, Penn made his directorial debut with The Indian Runner, a film based on Bruce Springsteen's song "Highway Patrolman" from the Nebraska album. He also directed music videos, such as Shania Twain's "Dance with the One That Brought You" in 1993 and Peter Gabriel's "The Barry Williams Show" in 2002. He has since directed three more films, all of which were well-received by critics: The Crossing Guard in 1995, The Pledge in 2001, and Into the Wild in 2007.
[edit] Personal life
Penn with Robin Wright in 2006
Penn was supposedly engaged to actress Elizabeth McGovern, his co-star in 1984's Racing with the Moon, after which he dated Susan Sarandon. Penn's personal life began to attract media attention when he married pop star Madonna in 1985. The relationship was marred by violent outbursts against the press, including one incident for which he was arrested for assaulting a photographer on a film set; Penn was sentenced to 60 days in jail in mid-1987, of which he served 33 days.[10] It is also alleged that when Penn discovered the paparazzo in his hotel room, he hung him by his ankles from the ninth-floor balcony.[11] Madonna dedicated her third studio album True Blue to Penn, referring to him in the liner notes as "the coolest guy in the universe". Later in the marriage, Penn was charged with felony domestic assault, a charge for which he pleaded to a misdemeanor. Penn and Madonna divorced in 1989.
He soon began a relationship with Robin Wright, and their first child, a daughter named Dylan Frances, was born in 1991. Their second child, a son named Hopper Jack, was born in 1993. Penn and Wright married in 1996 and lived in Ross, California. The relationship went through on-and-off periods in the late 2000s. The couple filed for divorce in December 2007, but reconciled several months later, requesting a court dismissal of their divorce case.[12] In April 2009, Penn filed for legal separation, only to again withdraw the case when the couple reconciled in May.[13][14][15] On August 12, 2009, Wright Penn filed for divorce again,[16] declaring that she had no plans to reconcile this time.[17] The couple's divorce was finalized on July 22, 2010, with the couple reaching a private agreement on child and spousal support, division of assets, and custody over their underaged son.[18]
During a separation from Wright in the mid 1990s, Penn dated singer and songwriter Jewel. He was also the director of the original video for Jewel's hit song "You Were Meant for Me".[19]
Recently, Penn has been linked with model Jessica White.[20]
Penn's younger brother, Chris, died from an enlarged heart in his Santa Monica condominium on January 24, 2006.[11]
Along with Johnny Depp, Mick Hucknall, and John Malkovich, Penn was a part-owner of the Parisian restaurant-bar Man Ray.[19]
[edit] Political and social causes
Penn has been active in supporting several political and social causes. On June 10, 2005, Penn made a visit to Iran. Acting as a journalist on an assignment for the San Francisco Chronicle, he attended a Friday prayer at Tehran University.[21]
On January 7, 2006, Penn was a special guest at the Progressive Democrats of America, he was joined by author and media critic Norman Solomon, Democratic congressional candidate Charles Brown, and activist Cindy Sheehan. The "Out of Iraq Forum", which took place in Sacramento, California, was organized to promote the anti-war movement calling for an end to the War in Iraq.
In August 2008, Penn made an appearance at one of Ralph Nader's "Open the Debates" Super Rallies. He protested the political exclusion of Nader and other third parties.[22]
In October 2008, Penn traveled to Cuba, where he met with and interviewed President Raúl Castro.[23]
[edit] Criticism of President Bush
Penn at an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C.
On October 18, 2002, Penn placed a US$56,000 advertisement in the Washington Post asking then President George W. Bush to end a cycle of violence. It was written as an open letter and referred to the planned attack on Iraq and the War on Terror.[24] In the letter, Penn also criticized the Bush administration for its "deconstruction of civil liberties" and its "simplistic and inflammatory view of good and evil."[25] Penn visited Iran briefly in December 2002.[24]
This advertisement was cited as a primary reason for the development of his relationship with Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez. Chávez used and read aloud an open letter Penn wrote to Bush in one of his televised speeches.[11] The letter condemned the Iraq War, called for Bush to be impeached, and also called Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice "villainously and criminally obscene people.".[26] In August 2007, Penn met with Chávez in Caracas for two hours, after which Chávez praised him for urging Americans to impeach Bush. Penn also visited a new film studio on the outskirts of Caracas, though he did not speak publicly.[26]
On April 19, 2007, Penn appeared on The Colbert Report and had a "Meta-Free-Phor-All" versus Stephen Colbert that was judged by Robert Pinsky. This stemmed from some of Penn's criticisms of Bush. His exact quote was "We cower as you point your fingers telling us to support our troops. You and the smarmy pundits in your pocket– those who bathe in the moisture of your soiled and blood-soaked underwear– can take that noise and shove it."[27][28] He won the contest with 10,000,000 points to Colbert's 1.[29]
On December 7, 2007, Penn said he supported Ohio Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich for U.S. President in 2008, and criticized Bush's handling of the Iraq war. Penn questioned whether Bush's twin daughters supported the war in Iraq.[30]
[edit] Hurricane Katrina
In September 2005, Penn traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, to aid Hurricane Katrina victims. He was physically involved in rescuing people,[31] although there was criticism that his involvement was a PR stunt as he hired a photographer to come along with his entourage.[32]
Director Spike Lee interviewed Penn for his documentary When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, about Hurricane Katrina.
[edit] LGBT Civil Rights
On February 22, 2009, Penn received the Best Actor Academy Award for the film Milk. In his acceptance speech, Penn said "...I think that it is a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect and anticipate their great shame and the shame in their grandchildren's eyes if they continue that way of support. We've got to have equal rights for everyone!"[33]
[edit] Haitian Earthquake: Manager of Relief Organization and Tent Camp
After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Sean Penn co-founded the J/P Haitian Relief Organization and has been running a 55,000 person tent camp.[34]
[edit] Filmography and awards
On December 18, 2006, Penn received the Christopher Reeve First Amendment Award from the Creative Coalition.[35]

Does Anyone Care about The Jobless?
" Who are the 99ers?
"99ers" is a term for the group of unemployed workers who have been out of work for over 99 weeks and thus are no longer eligible to receive federal unemployment benefits. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of June approximately 1.4 million Americans fell into the "99ers" category, which accounts for 9.2 percent of all unemployed workers. This means that in the past three years, the number of 99ers has multiplied sixfold from roughly 221,000 in June 2007."
The Joy of Jesus Church is in prayer for all jobless people. The public is only concerned for their job. What happens when they lose their job?
We need jobs now. We need people to care. The rich need to do more to help create jobs in big cities and rural areas. Things are getting worst. We need one-million people to stand with The Joy of Jesus

The Joy of Jesus is Power
Have you ever wondered how everything started? Have you ever gazed out into space and thought about the vastness of outer space? when young people study science, they quickly realize just how much there is to know and also how little we do know. God is all knowing.
All wisdom and knowledge is found in Jesus Christ. People are beginning to look at religion as just another problem. Yet, God and Jesus are not necessarily religions per-se. God is a spirit. We must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
God is the power we need to move the elements in the universe to His perfect will. God gave us Jesus to place our faith in His love. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. God raised Jesus from the grave so that we may live forever in perfect peace and love forever. We thank God and Praise for everything that He has done for us for The Joy of Jesus. We must recognize the fullness of God in all that we do in life.

Can Trusting make you Safer?
Who and what can you really trust today? Our banks are all struggling to make money while people continue to lose their homes and jobs. People go into public places with the fear that terrorist could possibly strike. Where and with whom are we to trust?
Faith is something we can not see, yet we must believe. We need to feel safe in order to function in a healthy environment.
Fear is the order of the day. People are afraid. Our news appears bad and worst. Good news is hard to find. Even in our churches children and women are being assaulted. There is only one source for trust today. God is the source of all trust in Christ Jesus and to His 'joy of salvation. We must place all of our faith and trust in The Lord of our redemption. Blessed is the name of the Lord. In Him we can find our trust today.

Everyone wants to know the end game. People can not wait to learn when the end will happen. The real question is what should one dot be ready for the end?
Jesus said that no one knows the end but God. However, we need to know what we should be doing as time moves on to that particular time?
Jesus told His disciples to watch, pray and be ready. That advise is as good as one could ever receive. We pray that God's will be done.
The Joy of Jesus is our salvation. We pray for the Lords, righteousness, truth, peace, faithfulness and word of God in Christ Jesus. We love the Lord. We pray for the day of His return.

Are the difficulties of life so demanding that there seems to be something missing? Our lives have become so intricate that even the worlds fastest computers are challenged. The question as to where life's journey will lead is still clear in the life of the believer: Calvary.
The entire notion of a place that determines one perspective on life itself is surreal at best. Carvery is a place where the cruelest act of society was inflicted on The Son of God. Blood was shed, torture, pain and agony unto death was experienced. But why?
The answer is somewhat simple. Sin. Jesus suffered the weight of all the sins of the world. We are all sinners saved by the grace that took place at Calvary. We owe a great deal of gratitude to God, Christ Jesus, and The Holy Spirit to remember the absolute faith that was demonstrated by God in His Son
Calvary ,you and I have a lot in common. We must have complete faith in God that our sins were washed clean at Calvary. We must trust that God's plan for eternal life is fulfilled at Calvary. We submit to god in faith, we thank God for His grace, and we praise God for His love. The Joy of Jesus is our salvation. Calvary is where you and I place our faith in Christ Jesus return.

The Joy of Jesus and Faith
Faith:
Do you believe in seeing is believing? If I didn't see it: It never happened. This is the way a great number of people live their life. We lean and perceive things through ones senses.
Yet, the most important factor of life has not been seen at all.
We need to go one step beyound to experience the full joy of Jesus in order to take the next faze of life. Jesus preached a pure message of faith. If we had the faith of a very small seed, it would grow into a huge and beautiful tree.
Faith can move mountains. It is a deep belief in The Creator of all the universe and His son. God gave us Jesus and the world rejected Him because of what He represents. To stand tall for love, grace and peace is not what those in power care about in life.
Our faith is in Christ Jesus, who turned water into wine, walk on the water and heal people. Jesus raised folk from the dead.
Our faith tells us that Jesus was betrayed, beaten, and crucified for our transgressions. Move Over, the Power of God raised Him from the dead and He will return with all power, honor and glory.
Our faith in Christ Jesus is The Joy of Jesus. We too can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthen us from day to day. Our faith in Him is the key to all the universe of the great unseen. We walk by faith and not by sight.

Do you want Healing? The Joy of Jesus Prayer
Prayer: Dear God our Father, in Christ Jesus name we pray.We ask for the healing of the world of all evil and hate. We ask that Your love can move us in new direction of perfect peace and healing. We pray for all people around the world in need. We ask that you continue to make this ministry grow in love and power. Bless all those who follow our teachings with your grace and mercy. We love You today Lord. We give You all of the power , honor and glory in Christ Jesus names and The Holy Spirit of God...
Scripture:And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and anon they tell Him of her; and they besought Him for her. And He stood over her and rebuked the fever; and He came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she arose and ministered unto them.
—Mark 1:29-31
The Power of Jesus:The rebuking of the fever signifies that diseases are due to the lack of proper operation of the conscious forces which govern the body, and are also due to the evil forces which consciously allow the evil of disease to spread in the body. Some diseases are brought about by physical transgressions against the laws of health, but disease germs are also created by an evil force that tries to destroy the beautiful creation of God — the human body. When the actions of an individual become very bad, evil vibrations are generated, attracting disease germs, which are the agencies of evil.
Jesus could see the evil force that was responsible for the introduction of fever into the body of Simon's wife's mother, and thus he rebuked it away and restored the harmony of health. Jesus commanded the predominating evil force to depart from the body of the stricken woman, thus reinstating the conscious Astral forces which govern normal health.
And at even, when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with diverse diseases brought them unto Him; and they that were possessed with devils; and He laid His hands on every one of them, and healed them. And all the city was gathered together at the door.
—Mark 1:32-33
Jesus exercised his supreme healing power to heal everyone who came to Him. He could heal all those who came unto Him at that time because all of them had the power of receptivity and faith. Faith is the soil, and the power of God flowing through the healer is the seed. True healing requires the true soil of faith in the patient and the powerful seed of healing in the healer or God.
Jesus could not heal everybody in the place where He was born because, even powerful as He was, He could not sprout the seed of his healing power on the rocky soil of disbelieving minds.
In healing, the power of the healer, great or small, is limited as compared to the unlimited healing power of God. Hence, all healers, instead of commanding their own powers in healing should invoke the unlimited Divine power of healing to flow through them and work certain healing. Man's power may fail but God's power can never fail. Even though God has unlimited healing power and though our Father does not want to see us suffer from disease, yet He cannot heal us until we open the gates of our own willingness to be healed. God has given us free choice, unlike the animals, and by misusing it we can keep God out of our lives. By using it properly, we can allow God to heal us.
In order to be sure of God's healing power, one must know and feel Him deeply in meditation daily. When sure of the Divine Communion, one should completely absorb oneself in God preceding every healing which one tries to perform. When administering Divine healing, the healer must act as a perfect medium in order to let God's unlimited power flow through without obstruction. Egotism and loud declaration, and self-laudation, such as, "I healed her," and so forth, should be strictly avoided both in speech and mind, in order to let the all-knowing God perform the healing.

A Call to end Violence from The Joy of Jesus Church
The recent reports of violence and threats of violence needs to be addressed publicly. The Joy of Jesus Church calls on all responsible pillars of society to speak out against violence. This does not resolve any problem we may face as a society. The Joy of Jesus Church is rooted on peace, hope and love for all people http://thejoyofjesuschurchonline.blogspot.com/
We are now on a peace and prosperity campaign to help people in need to become empowered to help others, and that violence is not the answer to problems. Children are the most adversely impacted by such hate and ignorance. Education and values which promote civility are in order.
The Rev. Dr. James A. Lee, Pastor of the Joy of Jesus Church http://thejoyofjesuschurchonline.blogspot.com/ will develop a Center for Peace to help resolve some of the frustration people may experience with t5he political and economic issues that may result in violence. Please donate to The Joy of Jesus to Uplift Humanity http://thejoyofjesuschurchonline.blogspot.com/

The Word The Joy of Jesus Rev. Dr. James A. Lee
What would life be without joy? When a child is born in the world it gives the parents and related families tremendous joy. We can find joy in all types of activities if one so desires. The real question is what gives Jesus Joy?
Many years ago a child was born under the most adverse circumstances. Born in a manger with all of the burdens of the world on his life. The governments rested on him.
Jesus was born to save the world from sin.The Joy of The Lord is doing the perfect will of God. Do you know of anyone who who die for your sins and was so perfect in doing the absolute will of his father?
The Joy of The Lord is our Salvation. This is the good news. Jesus died in the cross so that we who believe in Him shall have everlasting life. God raised Him with all power and glory. Jesus will return to set all things right. The Joy of The Lord is my salvation

Have you ever had something that was so precious to you, and lost it? What should one do under such circumstances? There many people today that have very little hope for the future. The Joy of Jesus Church has found the answer to such a dilemma.
The Bible tells a story about a woman who had a precious coin collection and lost one that she truly valued. What did she do? She cleaned up her house searching everywhere until she found it.
People are losing hope today due to the horrible economic conditions. We must look quickly to Scripture. The Bible states that when our dear woman found what she valued and lost she rejoiced with a celebration with her loved ones.
Where is our hope. All of our hope is in the Lord of all salvation. Jesus gave His life on the cross and was raise by God. The promise of all hope is that Jesus shall return and save all who believe in Him. This is the reason for all hope in The Joy of Jesus Church for you.

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

The Joy of Jesus Church is Calling for Healing
Is there a problem that you have that causes pain and suffering that you can not do anything about in your life? The Joy of Jesus is clearly knows the answer to this question that needs to be clearly articulated.
Once there was a lady who had suffered with a bleeding disorder for eight years. Nothing could be done for her. She was weak and helpless. There are so many people today in this particular problem and more ailments that strike the soul. What can be done?
The Bible tells us that if we could just touch the hem of Jesus garment that everything will be o-Kay.Yes, our faith is the key to any healing. If we trust in what is impossible for man is possible for God.
Jesus Christ was scorned, beaten, and crucified. Jesus was resurrected by God and will return with all power, honor and glory. We whom believe in The Full Glory of God in Christ Jesus we shall be healed. Our Faith shall heal us from all maladies. Praise God and Glory to God in Christ Jesus. We pray for healing in the name and Joy of Jesus Church.

The Joy of Jesus Prays for Peace
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
King James
Sermon: The Holy Spirit of God has lead us to the idea of peace in the life and heart of the believer. The turbulence in our society has caused people to behave as if their is no consideration for the larger question as to if one is ones brother keeper? Of Scripture addresses such an issue.
The peace of God is the only thing the believer may find solace. Jesus is the answer to any problem we may encounter. Our political leaders claim they wave the answer or solution to our problems. Yet, many only tell us what they think we want to hear from information from polls.
What our Scripture tells you and I is that God know this and has provided a course of action that is beyound even our understanding. Jesus was born to save us from all sins. He was beaten and scorned. Jesus gave His life on the cross so that we may live in His perfect peace. God raised Jesus from the grave and returned Him to heaven with all power, honor and glory.
We may find our peace in knowing that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We praise God for all blessings in Christ Jesus. Peace is the gift of eternal life through what God did with Jesus on the cross. We thank god for you and pray for you and your family. Cast all your burdens on Jesus. God can fix it. We praise God for all peace and goodness found in Christ Jesus our Lord with all Glory forever. In the name of Jesus we pray. A-men.

The Joy of Jesus Church needs You to Care
Caring
Have you ever felt like you were all alone? Loneliness is a horrible feeling. The pain of losing loved ones can remain in ones hearts a lifetime. What are we to do with such feelings? The Bible says rejoice in the Lord always.
The life of the believer is focused on Jesus. Everything we do must be done in prayer. Our faith is one of tremendous pain, yet there is joy inside my tears. Yes Jesus can comfort us.
We are healed by His stripes. In other words, when Jesus was beaten, dragged to the cross and crucified for our sins, and raised on the third day; God did what He promised to do. We believe that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
The old song said 'No never alone." He walks with me and talks with me. Oh what joy that fills my soul.Weeping may endure for a night but joy will come in the morning. I am so glad that we have such a friend in Jesus. He will wipe away all tears and fears. We must simply trust Him today. May God always bless you with these words of peace, love and joy in the Lord.

Google Buzz is The Buz
Close The Buzz About Google Buzz
Here's what you need to know about Buzz before you get too excited about Google's latest experiment.
Ian Paul
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 07:03 AM PST
Google's latest social media experiment came to life on Tuesday in the form of Google Buzz: a social media sharing service built into your Gmail window. Buzz will let you share photos, links, videos, and status updates through your Gmail inbox or your mobile device's Web browser.
Google is still rolling out the service to all Gmail users, but if you can't wait, we have a couple of ways that you can try out Buzz right now on your desktop or smartphone. But before you get going, here are some early impressions from around the Web about Google Buzz.Google Buzz is not that new. It may sound like sour grapes, but Microsoft and Yahoo released separate statements on Tuesday saying they have offered functionality that's similar to Google Buzz for years. Microsoft allows you to add what are called "Web Activities" to your Windows Live profile. There are about 75 services you can add to your Windows Live profile, including Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa, and others. Just like Google Buzz, Windows Live posts your activity to your public profile, and you can view the activities of others if they've added it to their Windows Live profiles as well. Yahoo profiles behave in a very similar manner.
The biggest difference between Google Buzz versus Windows Live and Yahoo profiles is that Google creates an autofollow list of people for you, while you have to explicitly authorize others to connect to you on Windows Live or Yahoo.
Google Buzz is open, except when it's not
Google said they want Buzz to be wide open in terms of data portability, but right now that doesn't seem to be the case. At its most basic level, Google Buzz looks like it's going to be a self-contained silo where your messages get trapped. For example, you can't broadcast anything out to your friends on Twitter or Facebook from Buzz. So if they want to see something you've sent out they have to get it in their Gmail inbox or watch your activity on your Google profile. I'm not sure why that's the case -- and to be fair the Windows Live and Yahoo versions do the same thing -- but if Google wants Buzz to be open, why is everything so self-contained?
Buzz is an inbox monster
Digg founder Kevin Rose has shared his insights on Google's new service, and one of his biggest complaints was the inability to stop new Buzzes or comments from lighting up your inbox. In my limited experience with Buzz, I have to agree with Rose. I made the mistake of commenting on this Buzz from PCWorld editor Patrick Miller, and now my Gmail inbox gets an alert every time there's a new comment. You are supposed to be able to mute Buzz notifications by enabling Gmail keyboard shortcuts and then pressing 'm' while reading the Buzz, but that didn't work for me.
Another option is to manually create a Gmail filter, and push Buzzes out of my inbox as LifeHacker has done, but there has to be a better way.
Why do I need new Buzzes in my inbox? Why can't Buzzes just go straight to the dedicated tab and skip the inbox altogether? That may defeat some of Google's intent with Buzz, but as Rose points out, "When Buzz starts feeling like a task (email), that bothers me."
Confusing friends
ReadWriteWeb has an interesting piece discussing Google Buzz's somewhat confusing and murky autofollow feature. Similar to Google Chat, Buzz is supposed to automatically sign you up to follow the Gmail users you e-mail and chat with the most.
That's an interesting and helpful idea, since it makes it easier for me to build a new network rather quickly. However, it also means I'll end up following people I may or may not want to connect with on Buzz. As one anonymous source told RWW, "the people that you email and chat with the most may not be your closest friends or the people that you want to share and connect with."
Despite these complaints, Buzz is earning praise, too. The location-based features in Google Buzz for mobile are getting a lot of attention, and the fact that Buzz doesn't force your status updates into 140-character messages could be great for people who complain about that limitation on Twitter. It's too early to say whether Google Buzz will be a winner or not, but it will certainly be interesting to see how this service develops.

Here's what you need to know about Buzz before you get too excited about Google's latest experiment.
